Still doesn't make MH AAA. It's simply not big budget enough to qualify.

How much does a MH game cost to make?

Capcom has never publically said it. So only speculations for now...according to these guys 3DS games costs at average $600k-$1.8m, of course a game like Monster Hunter is probably much higher...so lets say a max of $10m for MH4...that's very cheap and enters the category of mid tier game budgets. This is speculation of course but you get the idea.

Console MH games (not ports) are probably higher, but I can't see them being higher than $20m in development cost. The thing though is that basically all MH console games are enhanced ports of their handheld counterpart, very few are "original" tittles, making them very cheap to make, and given these two statements:

http://wiiudaily.com/2012/07/ubisoft-wii-u-games-cost-less-1-million-port/

http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2013/05/capcom_describes_monster_hunter_3_ultimate_as_a_smash_hit

Is easy too see why MH games are not AAA titles in the traditional sense.

Fair enough. Thanks for the info
