Many of the 7th generation games feautred online components that detract from the game if you don't have access to the internet. The 360 itself won't even show box art of downloadable games if it's not online. So for me, the cut off line ends with DC/PS2/Xbox and Gamecube because that's the last time video games (speaking about consoles here) were fully boxed products. After that, games started shipping without characters, maps, levels...basically 3/4th of the game in order to make more money.
