They can always update the game to support new stuff.
This is a massive understatement. The battles were PAINFULLY slow. Gen 4 was the generation that made me quit Pokémon. I tried playing the original D/P once and got bored, stopped after less than an hour. This is when I started thinking the franchise was going downhill - I gave it another chance with HG/SS and after noticing the game was still slow and they changed the music for worse (New Bark Town) I was already very skeptical... Then I saw that annoying girl with the Marill and instantly quit. I only came back to the series when B/W were released in the US... what's funny is that whenever I saw anything about this game before it came out, I thought it was going to be even worse than Gen 4, but somehow I was eager for it to come out. Downloaded it (yes, this was all through emulation, please don't kill me) on launch day while still thinking it would be garbage, started playing it and actually thought it was pretty damn good. Eventually, Gen 5 became my favorite generation at the time, and along with Ocarina of Time 3D they were the main reason behind me actually getting a 3DS and finally stop playing Pokémon on emulators. I have given Gen 4 another chance since, and while I did play HeartGold for some hundreds of hours (even beat the game twice) and also beat Diamond, I still think it's the worst gen by miles. I do feel, though, that if I had originally played Gen 3 on the GBA instead of emulation, I would hate it as well, since it was also very slow-paced. |
So you quit Pokemon because of Gen 4 yet still played Gen 5 and went back and played Gen 4 anyway..interesting..
