Thinking about skipping Pokemon OR & AS

The online community could move there. Of course XY won't be left totally as the userbase is huge. But that's a risk if it's not fully compatible.

They can always update the game to support new stuff.

 

They could, but haven't said they will. That will be a first for Nintendo to match a game to add content from anothe game. I am not very hopeful.
