Yay, the formatting is good before I even get to it this week. Gj Mo.
Anyway, a week of ups and downs this week, which is always the best week.
Positives:
+ Excellent second week from Youkai Watch. It really is a phenomenom at this point.
+ Excellent opening for Oreshika. Beating both the original and the remake, no less. I'm not expecting legs due to the dissatisfaction of existing buyers, but still, it's done very well (and hopefully this means Sony will continue with their JRPG route)
+ Vita hardware has held on pretty well all things considered, still well up YoY. Might see another increase yet again, 2014 > 2013 > 2012.
+ 3DS hardware not too shabby either.
+ Legs games are all doing great. Persona & Sword Art Online benefitting from the anime; Taiko & Pokemon doing expectedly well; Grand Theft Auto is still surprising me. But Mario Kart is the biggest surprise. Still flat WoW despite hardware being down, again.
Negatives:
- Crap opening for Atelier. They really need to give the series a rest at this point, it's been a downward sales spiral since Ayesha and they need to do something about it at this point.
- Crap opening and sellthrough from that Gundam game, too. Bamco must've really been expecting better (I haven't ever really seen any Gundam games with legs, either). Potential bomba there.
- And Wii Sports Club... wow. Combined with that 3DS game, that's the first time I've seen full green sellthrough on Famitsu in ages. Pretty shocking that they could overship so badly; I can understand why retailers would expect more from Wii Sports though (seriously, even with WiiU's struggles and the fact it's just a collection of things which are downloadable, 2.5k is still abysmal)
- WiiU hardware is continuing to tumble and that PS4 number is just poor.
- Murdered Soul Suspect has sold poorly, but I didn't really expect any different to be honest. It's still being bought by some of the PS4 hardcore.
