Does the Musou genre really hurt a Zelda game? New HW characters announced

I'm really curious as to how they'll use the rupees. I haven't played a Warriors Musou game since the PS2 so I don't remember how KT's upgrade system worked and how it will carry over the Hyrule Warriors.
