I wouldn't jump to that conclusion. It's pretty obvious that Nintendo is considering ways to boost the Wii U's sales, and Pokemon is their most dependable franchise of all, even beyond Mario (note that I didn't say biggest). With 3DS getting remakes of Gen 3, which itself contained remakes of Gen 1, it would probably be a fairly clever move to make the second round of remakes of pokemon games a home console release - after all, the Gen 1 remakes are now three generations old, aren't even compatible with the new handheld (the game itself, not connectivity between generations), and it would be a very popular release given how people feel about Kanto.
That being said, I don't actually expect it. When it comes to home console Pokemon, I'm expecting either a new Orre title, or perhaps this rumoured "Pokken" game with a built in Pokemon Stadium type mode. I am pretty confident that Wii U will be getting a pokemon game with classic battling in some form.
