WiiU surge is because of PS4 and X1 disapointment?

That's twice now that I've heard this in here. I'm curious, though, what were the must have games on the 360 and PS3 during the same time periods of 2006 and '07? How did the rest of the gen turn out?

True the 360 didn't had much games before Gears of War came out and thats about a year after release but the PS3 had Uncharted. The 360 was dissapointing too at launch.
