Well the 360 launched in late 2005, so that would be an unfair comparison for the PS3...

You misunderstood it. During the first 7 months of both machine's lives, they didn't really have a ton of "must-have" titles. Very much like it always is - few good/new titles here and there, but their bread and butter are far down the road.

...but yeah, the months after launch of a console are usually pretty dry.
