Indie devs drive creativity in the industry. Minecraft is a very good example of a creative indie title that demolished all AAA titles in terms of creativity.
Someone above said that indie titles existing or not existing would have no effect on the industry. When you look at where the fastest growth is coming from, it is from Indie developers. Platforms where idie developers thrive, like Steam, Android, and iOS are all on the rise, whereas the console industry is shrinking fast.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
