Smash Bros for Wii U comes with a large selection of characters to play! (all characters require the associated amiibo to unlock 1 amiibo included).

lol That would be terrible.

I know that isn't what's supposed to happen but the reason that the figures sell so well for Skylander's and Disney Infinity is that you need the figures to play the associated character.  Will these figures really sell if you don't need them to play the character? why not just buy a normal Nintendo figure for less.

They will work on future titles as well. Theyre not just bound to one franchise.

That's a plan not a guarentee at least in the long term (holiday 2015 games) if they don't sell to expectations.

For being a skylander's rival they just don't seem to have the same hook to get that 'I NEED THIS' feeling.

After all the 2011 skylanders figures work with 3 current games and a 4th coming so people still buy those older character today because they need to, too play as those characters in the new games.

If you don't need the figures to play as the characters they just won't be as essential.

Do you really think lots of people will buy the figures of Little Mac, Villiger or Wii Fit Trainer otherwise?
