I'm not smart enough to state it properly but the sheer sense of "the journey" in Earthbound is fantastic. You start and you're just a kid with a couple friends, you leave home, you have to call yer Mom 'n Dad, you get home sick and you encounter some insane stuff. It's memorable and unlike anything you'll ever experience.
