It's not a fact, it's accounting sleight of hand. The wii u sold so poorly last fiscal year that they are left with a large overstock, so by applying the loss on those consoles to last year the money they can make on the overstocked wii us are put to covering the loss of any new models made this year. Nintendo never said that they are now making a profit per console sold, they wouldn't have had to use such fancy language to dance around that issue otherwise.
