I don't think the vita situation is analogous at all.

Really?

Vita is not vital(lol) for the enjoyment of PS4

WiiU is not vital for the enjoyment of Amiibos(will be a base for 3ds too)

Ps4 came when vita was alreadly very low

Amiibo will came when Wiiu will be pretty low

Psvita as acessory was a aftertough

Amiibos is a aftertough

Sony really tried to convience that psvita as acessory could be pretty cool(but we know that is not enough to justify a brand new purchase of >100USD)

Nintendo really want to convince that amiibo can be a game changer experience(but we know that is not enough to justify a brand new purchase of >200USD).

The most similar situation: PS4 in no way put a end to the biggers problems with Psvita, neither amiibo with WiiU.

I see that the main objective with PS4 was not push PSVita, and nintendo said that amiibo was a way to push WiiU, but is anyone convinced by that declaration?

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."
