So to use your analogy, Porsche and Jaguar should just close down because they don't cater to the masses? No. They have a market, and for the market they have, they need to cater to them. The Wii is so successful because it caters to so many different types of people. The PS3 and 360 cater to a smaller audience, but for what the PS3 and 360 do well, the Wii is not the right tool. The Wii is great, I love mine, but I also love my PS3 and my 360. |
Nowhere does he say Sony or MS should shut down. But by going elite (or in MS's case, always being that way), they've lost thier ability to cater to the mainstream. PS2 was the Camry of the 6th gen. Sony forgot this and they're stuck with being the Porshe. Whch is a nice thing to be, but as Sky Render said, a whole lot fewer people want a Porshe than a Camry.
My consoles and the fates they suffered:
Atari 7800 (Sold), Intellivision (Thrown out), Gameboy (Lost), Super Nintendo (Stolen), Super Nintendo (2nd copy) (Thrown out by mother), Nintendo 64 (Still own), Super Nintendo (3rd copy) (Still own), Wii (Sold)
