Well the X1's performance in Europe wasn't gonna make Microsoft hire more people, so this was expected. You can expect more next year if things don't improve drastically.

Ok, let me try it as simple as possible:

Microsoft = 100k employees

Nokia = 30k employees with most of them in Europe

Microsoft acquired Nokia so that they get to 130k employees but since Microsoft acquired Nokia, they need only 125k employees to do exactly the same as before or do it even better after that.

It's like when you buy a box of games and some of the new games were alreay in your library. You don't need those you have twice so that  you take the better one and get rid of the rest.

I didn't really check the numbers now so don't start to mention that these numbers aren't 100% accurate. It's not about the numbers.

If anything Microsoft will probably start to invest more in Europe for Xbox marketing as they did yet. Or at least change the strategy to the better (worse is hard)
