You are right, the average gamer is 30. However this doesn't mean every gamer is over 30. The following link shows a better picture:

29% of gamers are under 18 years old. And I bet the percentage is even bigger on Nintendos plattforms. Should you really ignore these gamers?
In my oppinion the success of amiibo is dependend on the games, they support. The Smash Integration sounds good. Let's wait and see what they will do on the other games ...
