Dont know about the borrow system. I actually quite liked going through the dungeons in my own order.

Eh. I guess it is convenient to complete a dungeon in a non-linear manner but I feel that without the nostalgia factor, this game would be above average at best.

Even its Hero mode is a damn joke. It feels that it's only there to strike a gamers' ego.

Well, due to the rental system, they opened up the dungeon order. At least that is my understanding.

I would argue differently. If this game had no prequel, the game would be even better due to the overworld being new. And the dungeons are really good, as is the new play mechanic with the wall walking.
