Ugh...not this again. "Just 5,000 people so ignore it" (is the gist of what you're saying). #1 the poll was nearly 6500 people. And #2 presidential poll trackers like Rasmussen, Gallup, NPR, and the Washington times use less than 1500 respondents in their polls (some of those are less than 1000). The resulting percentages as >3% margin of error, and that's based on the sampling to be indicative of a 125M people. 1500 respondent sample size. Less than 3% margin of error representing a population of 125M voters.

6488 is an extremely large sample size.

Here is what another article said about this poll:

Now, to be fair, this is just an online poll, and its sample is probably not a fair representation of China’s gaming market. The audience could also be biased in favor of the PS4; it’s probably posted elsewhere too, but I found it in an article that mentions Sony in the title. The Xbox One is also discussed in the article itself, but the Sony headline might be attracting more Playstation fans than Xbox fans.

If your problem with the article is possible biases, then you should have said that. But you said that it's "just 5000 people, so I wouldn't give this much importance". Well, I did a sampe size caluclator, and with a population of 1.3B, to have a 95% confidence level with a confidence interval of 1.25, you'd need 6147 respondents.

My prior post addressed reading based on preferences, so I don't think I should repeat the same point.

Now, I'm not giving this survey 100% of my confidence, or saying it is 100% true about the population of China. I'm just saying that you shouldn't just blow it off based on A. sample size, since it has more than enough and B. potential biases, because like Burek and I said, preference doesn't prevent you from reading articles
