Once DQIX hits I expect a significant hardwars sales bump. There have been some significant RPGs on the system, but DQIX is the game that will make the system trully a must have for all hardcore RPG fans in Japan. And certainly the system will continue to thrive with the casual and non gaming audicances.
It depends on the lifespan. If it's successor comes in 2009 than probably the DS will top out at around 30-35 million in Japan, but if doesn't come until 2010 or 2011 than over 40 million isn't out of the question.
