It was never going to be the second coming of the PS2. This generation, Sony has almost no support from Japan, who was one of their main contributors for the PS2. There's no way they get 150 million sales.
That being said, that hardly means that the Xbone or Wii U are "closing the gap", cause they aren't, not even close. PS4 will still outsell them both combined, with room to spare.
