Zelda 1 and OoT are the only legitimate revolutions in gaming. Some of these are something that should be expected in a game world like zelda such as daily routines for npc's and more open exploration. Transforming to a wold isn't revolutionary and was utilized very well from what I recall. The motion controls in TP were tacked on. The 1:1 motion control was interesting but inherently flawed.

Of course it was flawed their first go around.  They change things up every game, so of course its not going to go smoothly.  Yes it's expected that all of this stuff will happen eventually, but doing it WAY earlier than expected is what makes it great.  Like those daily routines, do you think anyone could have conceived a way of doing that as early as Nintendo did them?  Not only did they add them but they set the bar for what a perfect implementation of that will eventually be.  Skyrim doesn't have daily routines that detailed in it yet.

If that was a Sony/Microsoft franchise they would just reuse the engine and change the characters.  Exactly what way is that better?

Nintendo needs to stick around because Microsoft and Sony do nothing but play it safe.  Exactly what does Microsoft bring to the table?
