That isnt how console sales work...

PS3?

Ps3 is a bad analogy as the Ps3 had a much better start than the wii u.  The ps3 also showed solid growth every year while the wii u is just about stagnant with last year.  It also had third party support which is neccessary if you want to have a console that last for more than 5 years.  The wii u will probably be retired in year 5 like every nintendo console before it because it will make more business sense for nintendo to start over with a new console than to keep try to dig the wii u out of the whole it is in.  They will proabably squeak out around 20-30 million.

I agree with most of what you said. I just used the PS3 as an analogy because it was a late-bloomer in terms of sales. Of course I don't expect Wii U to come anywhere close to PS3's sales. I just think there is certainly a chance that the OP is right, and that with more price reductions and a strengthening library (which I'm very optimistic about at the moment, particularly over the next year and a half), Wii U could manage to show sales growth this year and next year as well, ending up higher than people are expecting based on current sales totals. It certainly wouldn't have to sell "that" much to show sales growth year over year based on what it's sold per year so far. :p I agree that the 20-30 million range is probably about the best it can hope for, though.
