We'll see, this whole Hyrule Warriors thing has shown me that Zelda fans can be a little irrational when it comes to Zelda stuff, I feel that japanese fans are a lot more levelheaded in that regard.

So, I wouldn't be surprised if this game sells way more then its scores from critics (which I believe will be mediocre at best) would make you believe it deserves in the west. I have no idea how this game will play out in Japan.

Japanese fans won't be fooled by this, that's for certain.  If they buy it, they'll know what they're getting going in.  Many western fans, however, will have no idea beyond it being another Zelda game.  I'm betting the number of Nintendo fans who've played a Musou game is pretty low.

Personally, I think Nintendo has a bit of an advertising decision to make.  If they advertise this as a straight-up Zelda game, it could do very well in the west.  However, doing so might cause some fans to be unhappy relative to their expectations.  If they highlight that it's a spin-off, I don't think it will be as effective as a system-seller.

Heck, who knows, this might lead to a breakthrough for Musou games in the west.  Maybe we could see a reskin for a Sony title in the future.

I think they'll market it as a spin-off, but if the internet is to be believed then that doesn't matter as long as it has the Zelda skin. *rolls eyes*

Also, I really don't think that there is any Sony franchise were that would work, not mechanically but from an interest point of view, I just can't imagine Sony fans getting more excited for a Musou game just because it has an Uncharted skin for example, nor would it work with any other type of game, like who knows a dance game or whatever.

Not to sound arrogant here, but I think that this very easy to attain extra bit of excitement for games just because they have the characters of their favourite IPs in them is something that is pretty much exclusive to Nintendo fans.
