Sony Europe, or whichever part of the organization, filed dozens of lawsuits in various european countries with a charge that would have not held up in any court I am aware of, and with so many lawsuits launched at the same time, Lik-Sang would have quickly gone bankrupt fighting so many lawsuits at the same time, no matter how easy they were to win.
And last time I checked there were no unreasonable laws about buying legal items in one country and selling them in another, as long as that item is still legal in the recipient country as well.
Sony, LEGALLY, had no rights suing Lik-Sang over this, it was entirely for business reasons and no other.
Nintendo's lawsuit with them was over copyright protection breaking materials, not "buy here sell there" problems.
Also... If lik-Sang could win the lawsuits so easily, they would have fought. If I'm not mistaken, the person who looses the court battle pays the winners fees. Meaning sony would just be hurting themselves.
Sony had something on lik-sang. And sony used it. And won. Lik-Sang knew they could not win.
It's not a universal rule that the loser must pay the other's court fees, but often this is the case. Example: Sony had to pay all of Immersion's court fees for that very recent case over rumble.
My Top 5:
Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger
My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3
and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.
