Public perception is very important, and the public perception on Wii U is changing. Before it was viewed, at best, as a slight upgrade over the PS3 and 360. Now it's developing an identity as a quirky complement to the XBox One or PS4. Still has some work to do to catch on with the casuals, but I can see a lot of people picking up the Wii U as a secondary console.
