While Nintendo may not have the eye-candy/networked games found on the other consoles that help make a game get rated as AAA, it often is the first one to come out with a completely unique game or style, that others will then copying, saying 'well, I coulda done that'. But they didn't.
So, even if those games are not done in an AAA style, they are so unique that they sell. Examples would be Nintendogs, BrainAge and WiiSports. But even ones like Super Paper Mario deserve mention. Yes, it could have been made better. But the idea to fuse 2D and 3D in a game was another example of unique thinking.
Torturing the numbers. Hear them scream.
