Well, Witcher 3 is in a playable state already, it just wasn't available for journalists to play. They had a pretty long demo played by one of the developers that was shown to journalists behind closed doors a E3, plus the 2 shorter demos that were shown publically during E3. But just because journalists didn't get to play it themselves, it wasn't eligible, which I think is pretty lame.

I think that's fair. If the game isn't playable then they can't judge it properly. But its no big deal though cause the game will win loads of awards when its released.
