there are branching classes with different skills as you level up, good soundtrack, interesting storyline , etc. It's a bit linear but still worth a go. 

Well, I'm not the biggest fan of emulators, but I might make an exception for Secret of Mana 2!

Trust me. I have beaten that game 4 times, with different characters. The stories are not completely different but dialogue, enemies, bosses and interactions all change depending on your team composition. It is a good time.
