is the economy much worse than it was just a few short years ago? I been hearing the economy excuse since the late 90's and early 2000's to why a console wont sell.... this economy didn't stop the xone/ps4 in its record launch week... I bet ps4 is well ahead in its first 7 months compared to the ps3,and it will always have a better price point for the most part.. it will easily surpass the ps3

Cause the PS4 has been outlong enough for us to fully understand the trends that it will follow. Remember when people predicted it would have a shitty launch like the PS3? PS4's basically had the best launch out of all of the predecessors, lets see what happens after a full year.

I think PS4 will be very front loaded. The only variable is how many Xbox fans from last gen will Sony steal? The economy fell off the cliff in 2008-9, Video Games are a luxury pass time. I don't think a Wii like phenonmenon will occur. And I damn sure don't think PS4 is the second coming. 

Consoles in Japan are history, USA is declining. I just see decline everywhere. I don't think any console this gen will be a phenom.
