Scisca said: It needs a $70 cut ASAP. The thing just isn't worth the asking price and never was. A Nintendo console can never cost more than $250. Never. Now considering just how close to being dead Wii U is, they need to go lower, at least to $229, so that their product "pretty much" costs half of what the competition costs. I'm sure it'd pick up steam and sell really well this Holiday if they cut the price like that. People don't want more value in a bundle, they want to see a lower price. |
It really doesn't though. With the Mario Kart 8 bundle, which costs $330, the Wii U itself only costs $160 dollars. And a refurbished Wii U costs only $200. Either of those options puts the Wii U in the price range you requested.

No. The MK8 bundle still costs $330. Talking about refurbished (or as it really should be called - used) consoles is pointless. These are not new consoles and can't be compared to new consoles from the competitors. I only buy new consoles, so wouldn't pick such a console.
I think you guys are overestimating the MK8 effect on hardware sales. It wasn't really all that impressive. Didn't even push Wii U to the top for a single week and is pretty much already gone by now and Wii U is going to back to it's ca. 40k per week or maybe even lower. The software sold well, but hardware didn't explode, unlike what you are trying to say here. It desperately needs a pricecut. Games as well, of course, a cut alone won't save any console, but without the cut it won't sell well. Nintendo has to go all 3DS on Wii U. 3DS got a $80 cut, Wii U needs at least a $70 one. Nintendo hardware can't be so expensive, cause it's just not worth that much. And without consoles at home, the software won't move as well.

You pointed out what I already pointed out, bub. I said the bundle costs $330. It comes with 2 games, a Wii remote, and a Wii wheel. If you subtract all of these items from $330 (and assuming you can do math), the Wii U console itself costs $160 dollars. How do ya like dem apples? There is literally nothing to argue.

No, it's not how it works. The console still costs $330. Just a tad less than a PS4. You are using the RRP of the extras, which don't express the real value of these products. WiiMote? Cool, but I already have more of those than I'll ever need. Wii Wheel? Have one, don't need any tbh. The only thing that really has true value here is MK8 (if it's a retail copy included here, cause I don't care for download codes). So no, it's not $160 for the console. I'm gonna repeat it. People don't want more value. People want a smaller price.
Moreover, this bundle isn't available in Europe
Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!
My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/
My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.
