They been admitting that the sounds are bad they where supposed to fix it with a update in 6 but I guess they are going to wait until 7 to fix the problem.

I always remembered him saying that the sounds were "too real", but that they wewre just going to mix them differently to please fans. I've never heard Kazunori say that the sounds (mainly just the majority of engine sounds) were actually bad.

They are in the process of explaining how they have recorded sounds in the past and the new way they are working on for GT7. In the first part that I've linked above Kaz says that he is unhappy with the sounds and that he is sorry.
