um.. have you seen the sales figures for Resident Evil vs Kingdom Hearts? Kingdom hearts had two games hit over 2 million and 7 hit over a million. While resident Evil has 8 hitting over 2 million where as both Resident Evil 4 and 5 sold more than the best selling Kingdom Hearts.  Resident Evil is FAR bigger than what Kingdom Hearts is. There is no competition there. Even in Japan, the game is far more popular than Kingdom Hearts.

Now look at the release dates. No Resident Evil game has sold more than a mainline Kingdom Hearts game since 1999, your notion that Resident Evil is far more popular in Japan than Kingdom Hearts is based on sales that happened over ten years ago.
