Also on your earlier point PCs have jumpstarted indie development, but since PCs aren't dedicated devices, without consoles their would be less of a focus on Gaming overall.

Its sold more on console+mobile than PC.  Which should not shock anyone, though it did take a long time for it to finally happen.
