Don't get me wrong but almost every system was hyped including the vita. LOL It's just that the WII got more hate and backlash than hype. Like I said before, hype does not translate to sales. Final Fantasy was always a good title up until now and adding 3D to it wasn't exactly hard seeing as how combat was still turn based but platformers like Mario 64 didn't exactly do hot compared to the previous 2D Mario's in sales. Ad hominem ? The only people who use it are the ones out of arguments ... |
In the case of TP (and Final Fantasy VII), the hype was solidly sustained from the reveal to the reviews and even after. The graphics style of the game had a lot to do with that hype (as usual, people buy the coating of something before anything else). And it this case, the hype did correlate to better sales, ultimately. The game had it all, gameplay-wise, but what had everyone sold was that the game had the look everyone wanted, and it's that look that systained the hype (be it for the media, or anyone else).
