I agree with those saying that sales-wise, the tech-demo style would have greater potential. Or better yet, 'easier' potential. I wouldn't way it would definitely sell more than the new style though, but there's probably a higher chance to sell big numbers with the realistic style for Zelda.
I however also agree that the new style probably looks better than the demo-style. It makes the demo look a bit generic and bland and looking at close-ups the new style looks just as advanced, if not more so. It's basically only Link that looks simpler in comparison. It's also in no way as 'cartoony' as some want to make it out, this new game is still more realistic looking than Skyward Sword. Let alone Wind Waker.
Also, you guys must not forget that Wind Waker endured a shitstorm after it's reveal, it was a huge deal. Today it's a lot different with Zelda U. This is actually creating positive buzz. That fact alone is going to make a difference and you cannot really draw 1-on-1 parallels between the two games. It's not going to be as bad. Not that 4.60m + 1.25m for the remaster was bad.
