In Origins there are these 5 or 6 nymphs you have to save (one in each world) that you have to save to unlock the second half of the game. They're all female.

I'm aware of this. But the difference is that the focus/main story is not on how those women need saving but on the nightmares coming to life (if I rememebr correctly). The girls who give you powers are a subplot.
