I'm all for a good story. But the introduction doesn't need to give us boring tasks like fishing to lure a cat, herding goats, or taking back a cradle from a stupid monkey... To that you can add all the tutorial parts they put in the games like all Zelda players are retards, and yes, the introduction parts in those games have been really boring for the last few games. At least make some of the tutorials optional!

A Link to the Past had a story. It didn't rely on long tutorial moments to prepare you for the rest of the game. Just a "Take my sword and shield and listen. You can focus the power in the blade. ...The release it using the secret technique handed does by our people..". Press B and hold it, then release. That's pretty much all the tutorial one needs. No need to go on and on battling a stupid olf goof for 10 minutes just to know that if you press buttons in different ways, you'll get different results.  Let the player find some of that, for Farore's sake!! It's part of the joy of such games!

Instead, they slowly spoon feed the players throughout the entire game like they're nothing but retards. That's one thing Phil Fish and John Blow at least got right when they called out Japanese devs.

Agreed.
One of the biggest joys from earlier Zelda games (and just games in general) is learning and mastering the skills and things you can do/use.

I feel as though we won't have these annoying, long tutorials anymore though - they way Aonuma is going, it feels like he understands no one liked that. In fact, A Link Between Worlds had barely any sort of tutorial at the beginning.

A lot of people just seem like they couldn't care less about the story though. It's like they only play a Zelda game for the exploration and boss battles - no wonder these are the people who hate Skyward Sword, as those were the 2 weakest aspects of the game.

Skyward Sword has the best story telling in the whole series, as far as I'm concerned. Twilight Princess is a close second. Now they need to work on the pacing of the games. That's where they've been lacking quite a bit.
