THQ went down because they werent getting proper returns for their investment and many companies will fall this gen by the same token if they dont start to lower their AAA development numbers. Sony had to make new IPs. They needed a Halo killer. In my opinion, Sony came out of PS2 with no noteworthy core IPs.
When I say rehashing, I mean constantly using old IPs. Did we really need another Sly Cooper? Do we need another Shadow of the Beast? Not really, but I'm fine with Sony making them.
THQ made some bad investments like a cancelled MMO and those tablets. Also, they invested in too many mediocre games.
