Why is one "good but not the kind of ambitious game we'd expect from him" and the other is "very very disappointing"?

Because Killer is Dead is a better game than No More Heroes, despite the plot being a shadow of its former self when compared to the brilliance of Killer7.

While I really enjoyed Killer Is Dead I still don't think it beat No More Heroes.... Shadows of the dammned on the other hand definately did. In fact im probably alone here but it was one of my favourite games of last gen.
