Yup, it turns out I can't do it. It won't let me copy/move individual NNID save file or shared data within the system or into a usb device.
On the plus side, I found a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries and figured out my old 2GB USB could is compatible 
Do you know if changing your Mii for your NNID will create a different online profile for MK8?
