But the key is Lost World did nothing different in terms of game mechanics, aside from those points i cited (and a few others, pre-patch. Like mandatory tilt controls for some of the Wisps). It had 3D and 2D sections, and the 3D sections allowed for free movement, not forward auto-run. It's really hard to suggest that the game was just that much worse. Heck, most of the art-style was cribbed from Generations (and the game comes off very well for it).

The super-generic villains weren't much of a help, but that's neither here nor there.

Its an opinion ill suggest its worse all day, nothing nobody can do about it. Ill take the "auto run" which by the way isnt even true, because there were parts of the game were you did do platforming as modern Sonic. Did you even play it? I dont care if it allowed free movement, lots of games allow free movement doesnt make them any less boring. You still went forward, but did it a slower pace. Too much wall running which IMHO wasnt fun, felt more like a chore. The 2d sections dont even come close to Generations

I've played everything except Generations. I had assumed its setup was the same as Unleashed and Colors in that regard.

If not, i stand corrected, though less autorun is still better. Adventure 2 is the ideal they should be striving for.

Imho, mixing sonic universe with humans characters is a no-no. Even if Robotnic is a kind of human.

But to me Sonic is plain dead. Not because of the dev, just because consumer don't give a fuck about Sonic anymore. To me it's kind of clear. Devs tried to do everything with the license, without managing to catch attention. Kid and teen are being fed with FPS, fast pacing action game, GTA and close-to-reality sport simulation.

im going ot have to disagree the games do sell well...IF they are good. Keyword if. I dont think its a coincidence that the best selling in recent years have gotten good reviews and have been generally well received. Where as the bad ones dont do very well. (looking at you Lost World). I hate to say quality=sales but i think in Sonic's case i think it rings true for the most part and i have a few theories why. Hell even the bad ones still did ok (looking at you 06)
