Games cost way to much these days.

They also earn much more.

Sony does need more studios, but less than MS or Nintendo, because PS4 is the main console for multiplatform anyway.

Not every game sells millions of units.

MS and Sony are about equal in 1st party. I give the edge to MS becuase of Halo and Gears, but others prefer ND games. So superior 1st party is subjective.

Not every game needs to do it, but a lot actually do, average game pays off multiple times.

Last gen they weren't, this one is close, but like i said, ps4 is multiplatform console, sony doesn't need to be superior in 1st party, MS does, and this is pretty objective(as much as it can be at all).

MS will trounce them on both fronts and this is exactly what they are afraid of. They don't like all of their weaknesses exposed. MS can't do a PR stunt to get around this like last gen. I'll enjoy their games but internally they are not creative enough to outproduce Sony. Sure they'll pay everyone under the sun to make a game for them, but how many of those games will be hits rather than misses? You can never be sure where quality is coming from with MS unless its Forza or Halo. They don't have many trusted studios. As Sony said at E3 the reason they succeed with games so much is that they take risk on games that people dont expect to become big as well as the big games. Microsoft only pays attention to the latter, so their list of games look uncultured and small just like their line of sight.
