I think most people would rather prefer to have the entire plethora of 3rd party offering in the one system they buy rather than an odd 3rd party exclusive here and there.
That being said it's not like the other console manufacturers aren't striking up deals for 3rd party exclusives. MS got Tifanfall/Scalebound and Sony has Bloodborne/No man's sky in the pipeline. Nintendo isn't the only one with this "blessing" and Sony/MS didn't need a lack of 3rd party support to get this "blessing".
