Are you serious? Have you noticed that the one western territory in which the PS3's reputation is limping, meaning the US? Have you noticed that a large fraction of those US gamers buy more western oriented games than "japenese" oriented ones? ... Plus... you do know how hardcore the Fallout community is. Alot of western gamers have been waiting for ages for a follow up to Fallout 2. Fallout 3 has been hyped to become potentially one of the games of the year if all comes together. The aboive and below is not what my source told me, its my take on his tip. In my opinion this would be Sony's most ingenious move to date. Imagine how many western console gamers would be in complete meltdown if they heard that Fallout 3 would be avaliable exclusively on the PS3. IF Fallout 3 has TRUELY become PS3 exclusive then Sony will be on the right way to regain respect from the "hissing" gamers in the US. Im certain that Sony still has not given up on the US and they probably need something of that magnitude to stun perhaps their competing marketleader Microsoft. Whats most surprising is that some people cant see how this would play into Sony's strategy or maybe its just a premature exposure of nervous behaviour and meltdown of anger from some of the members here. |
Er... yes ingenious as it may be for PS3, stop dreaming. I think he means it will be sheer stupidity for Bethesda to do that, it is looking at potentially losing 2-3m (or even more) sales on the 360. |
-What Part of IF dont you understand? Im only laying out my analysis on how it would be a great move (rest of the reply) Well all depends on how they market this "exclusivity", I could see this do great in Europe. But for the US it would actually help PS3 sales regardless of how you look at it. Or perhaps your reaction is what I said before: "...a premature exposure of nervous behaviour and meltdown of anger from some of the members here." |
Fine... but its a big if.
And anyhow I think we are clearly looking at it in very different light. You are only thinking about how great this will be for your favourite console. Of course it will be great.
But if you were in Bethesda's shoes, who also paid money to buy the Fallout franchise, I want to get the most revenue and maximum exposure for a game that they already said they want to extend to Fallout 4,5. Having it as an exclusive will be the worst way to do it, certainly in the way of the PS3. If they had it 360 exclusive, they would lose sales from the PS3 base, but they would lose far far more sales due to the 2:1 360 leading US fan base. Unless Sony and Bethesda had a merger, this aint going to happen.
Im not trying to flame you and do appreciate your what if scenarios, but maybe you are emphasising the console specific view a little too much?
Anyway this is a GTA4 thread so I stop here.
