Well, I did suggest it in _XBrawlX_'s suggestion

Each topic title could be split into two links. Click on the first half of the thread title and be taken to the first page. Click on the second half of the thread title and be taken to the last page.
This would give people the option of reading a thread from the beginning (when first viewing it) or going straight to the recent additions."
EDIT: I'm not trying to take credit if it was already planned. :)
