How does Sonic revive himself from the dead after Sonic 06 with Unleashed, Colors, 4 and Generations and fall back in this slop? Lost World disrupted the successful formula and Boom is a cash in. The series acts like it doesn't know how to keep a successful formula and has identity crisis

Lost World disrupted nothing, and was prey mostly to the Wii U's weak install base and a few baffling structural changes (like how 100 rings no longer meant a 1-up, which, combined with how quickly you get killed in Lost World, threw the difficulty curve off a cliff). It's still got the 2D-3D hybrid gameplay, just now with 3D levels that don't suck like Unleashed/Colors/Generations.

yes it did, reception and sales, you can blame WIi U all you want. People didnt like the game, so they didnt buy it. If it was actually good it would have legs. 3ds did better but not much and that has a much better install base. excuses

But the key is Lost World did nothing different in terms of game mechanics, aside from those points i cited (and a few others, pre-patch. Like mandatory tilt controls for some of the Wisps). It had 3D and 2D sections, and the 3D sections allowed for free movement, not forward auto-run. It's really hard to suggest that the game was just that much worse. Heck, most of the art-style was cribbed from Generations (and the game comes off very well for it).

The super-generic villains weren't much of a help, but that's neither here nor there.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
