Two things to remember about Home:
(1) it's not just a playground. It's going to be a multimedia space -- accessible by PSP, PC, PS3 -- where you can access and store a range of media. Not easy to pull off. Think of how PS3 updates inadvertently break media streaming (mostly because Sony doesn't have control over streaming software), and you have an idea of the pitfalls. They'll eventually get there, but it's good they're taking their time.
(2) The most interesting innovations are going to be user creations. Think YouTube, only in three dimensions. The possibilities are immense -- but Home could easily be shipwrecked by overzealous corporate policing or monopolization. Sony needs to walk a fine line here and listen carefully to the user community.
