Personally I do not see EA screwing up. When its not your money its easy to say you would do this or that. Its easy to say how you would have done things after something was released. Respawn is not EA property they are only the publisher and even then Respawn signed the EA partners contract. EA doesn't even have the rights to the Titanfall IP so its easy to see why EA wasn't going to put that much capital at risk.
If Respawn can continue to make hits then I am sure EA and Respawn relationship will be great and each one will make a ton of money.
