One of Crytek's biggest misfires wasn't even "AAA", it was FTP. Another part of the equation is the declining demand for their engine. The fact is, Crytek hasn't been all that good at making games. I haven't played Ryse but Crysis just kept getting worse. Crysis 3 was mediocre in all ways and I had to force myself to finish it. I don't know if I've ever felt so much apathy for the end of a game. It was a complete mess. I'm not going to cheer when people might lose jobs. However, if Crytek is going to survive, they've got to find a way to make better games and make better business decisions. |
